This assembly hall holds the reliquary stupa of Shakya Yeshe, an important disciple of Tsongkhapa, first built after the cart carrying his remains back from Beijing got stuck here in 1435. The monastery founded on this spot became an important fortified monastic outpost of the Ming empire.
